A man from Kwa-Guqa is facing two counts of murder for allegedly setting his girlfriend and sister alight with petrol and locking them in a room.

A man accused of setting two women on fire, who later died from their injuries, is expected to appear before the Emalahleni Magistrate’s Court today, reports the Witbank News.

The accused, Mpumelelo Hill (35), faces two counts of murder following the deaths of his girlfriend, Nompumelelo Gamede (21), and his sister, Antoinette Hill (23).

The incident took place on July 23, 2025, in Kwa-Guqa.

According to Gamede’s father, Hill allegedly poured petrol over his daughter after a heated argument between the couple.
