Video: Police hunt for 10 suspects after violent CIT heist in KZN

Suspects ambushed a CIT vehicle, shot one security guard, and stole an undisclosed amount of money.

Police in KZN are searching for 10 suspects following a brazen CIT robbery in Pietermaritzburg yesterday evening.

KZN police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said the suspects ambushed a CIT vehicle, shot one security guard, and stole an undisclosed amount of money after disarming the guards.

The attack occurred near the BP garage in Caluza around 18:00.

According to KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service, the assailants forcibly stopped the vehicle before bombing it.

“Paramedics responded to the scene and provided immediate medical care to stabilise a patient who had sustained a gunshot wound,” the service said in a statement.

The injured guard was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police.
