Voting: ANC Limpopo spokesperson sets record straight

Machaka Mathole emphasises the candidates their provincial executive committee will endorse when voting starts.

In light of uncertainty looming following rumours on Limpopo delegates abandoning incumbent President Cyril Ramaphosa to throw their weight behind Zweli Mkhize, ANC Limpopo spokesperson Machaka Mathole has set the record straight.

He says: “Comrades have rights like any other leader who is a delegate to the conference to go lobby for any candidate of their choice.”

He adds that it is wrong to assume that their decisions are made by the provincial executive committee.

“The ANC Limpopo provincial executive committee is supporting President Cyril Ramaphosa for a second term,” Mathole reaffirms.

He says they are also supporting Paul Mashatile as deputy president, Mdumiseni Ntuli as secretary general and Nomvula Mokonyane as the deputy secretary general.

“We are supporting Dr Bejani Chauke as the treasurer and comrade Stan Mathabatha as the national chairperson. We found it prudent to make this clear,” Mathole says.
