Wanted taxi industry hitmen killed in Mooi River shoot-out

Men sought in connection with taxi industry-related murders were shot and killed after they failed to stop when ordered by police.

Four men who were wanted for taxi industry-related murders were shot dead during a high-speed vehicle shoot-out with police in Mooi River, KZN, yesterday afternoon.

KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda says police officers who had information about the men’s whereabouts intercepted their vehicle on the N3 and signalled for the driver to stop.

He adds that the driver, however, sped off and took the Hidcote turn-off, joining the R103 heading towards Estcourt.

Netshiunda says during the chase, the four men started firing shots towards the police.
