Watch: Armed gang robs mall in Mpumalanga

A group of approximately 30 men broke into the Dwarsloop Mall after they tied up the security guards.

Six shops at Dwarsloop Mall (on the R40 between Hazyview and Hoedspruit) were robbed in the early hours of this morning.

About 30 suspects stormed the mall at 01:30 and held the security guards at gunpoint to gain entry.

Dwarsloop Mall manager Judgement Mdluli says: “They then tied them up before breaking some of the shops’ windows and stealing items. No one was injured during the incident, but the mall is not operating.”

Mdluli adds that they are waiting for the police to conclude their examination of the crime scene, and then shops that were not affected will operate.

The Bushbuckridge police confirmed the robbery and were still gathering evidence at the scene, at the time of publishing.
