Watch: Comedy gold as camera trap captures after-dark antics at Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park
A Wildlife ACT camera trap delivered laughs as an NPO discovered unexpected stars in their night-time footage.
A routine camera check turned into a delightful surprise for a Zululand NPO monitoring wildlife in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park (HiP).
Zululand Observer reports that Wildlife ACT this week posted footage showing the playful after-dark behaviour captured on one of its motion-triggered cameras.
“In 2014, you might remember Wildlife ACT captured the now-famous genet Jackson hitching rides on buffalo and rhino.
“Over a decade later, the camera traps have delivered again – this time catching another genet mid-journey on the back of a buffalo in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park.
“Moments like these show just how powerful camera traps are in revealing the hidden wonders of the wild, while also playing a vital role in monitoring and conserving endangered species.
“Once again, these insights contribute directly to informed and adaptable conservation management, helping safeguard both the species we protect and the wild places they call home – no matter how big or small,” said Wildlife ACT on their Facebook page.
