Watch: Crocodile captured at Richards Bay beach

KZN wildlife officers and willing members of the public worked together to safely capture the 2.5m long crocodile.

Beachgoers at Newark Beach area in Richards Bay, KZN, saw an unusual visitor on the beach this morning.

A roughly 2.5m long crocodile, which was first spotted at Alkantstrand last night, settled in the bush against the dolosse at the short pier.

Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife officers, honorary officers and willing members of the public had their work cut out as they captured and relocated the crocodile from the beach.

The capture and removal operation began shortly before 08:00, and the animal was later released in a safe location.
