Watch: EFF members storm into civic centre in Richards Bay

EFF members clashed with security at uMhlathuze Municipality over councillor replacements.

Pandemonium erupted at the uMhlathuze Municipality in Richards Bay a short while ago where EFF members in KZN were protesting over the replacement of three expelled councillors.

Zululand Observer reports members of the SAPS POP Unit had to use teargas to disperse the crowd.

In chaotic scenes captured inside the civic centre, EFF members are seen in a scuffle with security guards before forcing their way into the building and shattering the main glass door.

The main glass door at the uMhlathuze Municipality is shattered.

According to EFF regional secretary Sabelo Khubisa, their intention was to bring new councillors into Council Chambers to replace the expelled politicians.
