Firefighters are currently battling a huge blaze at the iconic Juma Masjid Mosque at the corner of Denis Hurley (old Grey) Street and Dr Yusuf Dadoo (old Queen) Street in the Durban CBD, Rising Sun Overport reports.

The largest mosque in Africa caught alight a few hours ago.

RedLine Response Paramedics’ Garrith Jamieson said, “There has been reports of multiple patients suffering with smoke inhalation on scene.”

The road has been closed and traffic has been severely affected.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
