Man assassinated at Durban mall

The murder is said to be taxi-related and is being investigated by the Provincial Taxi Violence Unit.

Video footage shows how a 57-year-old man is murdered in cold blood shortly after he walked out of the Seadoone Mall in Amanzimtoti on Wednesday.

The deceased, William Kunene, was identified on the scene by his son.

According to Amanzimtoti police communications officer Captain Charlene van der Spuy, “The motive has been confirmed as taxi-related.”

She says Kunene sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead on the scene. The incident happened at about 17:00.

“A case is being investigated by the Provincial Taxi Violence Unit,” says Van der Spuy.

The suspects are unknown at this stage. They fled the scene in a blue/grey Volkswagen Polo.

*Update: CCTV video footage captured the incident and was published on YouTube. The video has since been removed from YouTube.
