Watch: N2 bridge partially collapses near Twini Hill, KZN

Motorists travelling on the N2, heading to Amanzimtoti from Durban, are making use of alternative routes due to a partial bridge collapse.

Drone footage has revealed the extent of the damage to the N2 Ezimbokodweni River bridge near Twini Hill, KZN, that partially collapsed yesterday.

The footage indicates that fixing the bridge will be no small feat.

One of the beams supporting the bridge partially sank yesterday at about 11:00, causing the surface of the southbound lanes to become uneven.

The southbound lanes are closed to traffic while authorities assess the situation.

Motorists driving south on the N2 can take the Joyner Road offramp in Prospecton and use the R102. Councillor Andrè Beetge yesterday advised motorists to take alternative routes.

“Please plan accordingly and exercise caution,” says Beetge.
