JUST IN: N2 bridge partially collapses near Twini Hill

Motorists travelling on the N2 heading to Amanzimtoti from Durban are advised to use alternative routes due to the N2 closure near Twini Hill.

ONE of the beams supporting the Ezimbokodweni River bridge near Twini Hill on the N2 has partially sunk, causing the surface of the southbound lanes to become uneven. The incident happened today (November 5) at around 11:00.

The southbound lanes have been closed off to traffic while authorities assess the situation. Motorists driving south on the N2 can take the Joyner Road offramp in Prospecton and use the R102. Councillor Andrè Beetge also advised motorists to take alternative routes.

“Please plan accordingly and exercise caution,” said Beetge.

Earlier today, a sinkhole developed on the N2 near Adams Road on the northbound lane. It developed at the site of an older sinkhole from a few years ago. At this point, it has not been confirmed if the damage was caused by the rain.
