Watch: Protesters disrupt services at Vosloorus hospital

Reports that health workers cannot enter or exit and emergency vehicles are being turned away were received.

Protesters, allegedly complaining about working conditions and demanding that Covid-19 contracts be renewed, is said to have blocked off the entrance to the hospital.

An employee of the Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital informed Kathorus Mail the gates are closed, health workers cannot enter or exit the premises and emergency vehicles are being turned away by protesters.

She said the workers are complaining that the hospital is understaffed and demanding for contracts to be renewed.

Ekurhuleni Health District communications officer, Joseph Monaheng, confirmed reports of protests at the hospital.

“Workers are protesting for Covid-19 contracts to be renewed. We will issue a media statement in due course,” said Monaheng.
