Watch: Snake snack too much for python

The incident occurred at Tembe Elephant Park's watering hole and was captured on the reserve's livestream feed.

Biting off more than it could chew, a southern African rock python was severely injured when attempting to ingest an antelope recently.

The incident occurred in KZN at Tembe Elephant Park’s watering hole on February 3 and was captured on the reserve’s livestream feed.

In the video, the snake is seen strangling the antelope before partially consuming it.

However, the snake was impaled by the impala’s horns, which were seen poking through its body.
