Watch: South African firefighters sizzle in Canada with song and dance
The group is in Canada to help fight wildfires during one of the most devastating fire-seaons the country has ever faced.
Working on Fire (WoF) firefighters touched the hearts of Canadians after they landed at Edmonton’s Airport to help fight wildfires that are currently raging at various spots across the country.
The group of 215 firefighters broke into sing and dance, some of them holding South African flags.
According to the Citizen, the firefighters arrived in Canada last weekend and are expected to stay for a month to help fight fires during Canada’s wildfire season.
WoF is an Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) aimed at providing work opportunities to young men and women. The programme resides under, and is funded by, the Department of Environmental Affairs.
