The policeman has been quarantined while colleagues are currently being self-isolated pending screening and testing by the Department of Health.

Witbank Police Station was closed today after a member tested positive.

The policeman was told yesterday that he had tested positive after the South African Police Service Medscheme (POLMED) screened police officers at the police station on Monday, May 11.

Men and women in blue were told to go home and report back to duty tomorrow when they will be tested by the Department of Health.

In the interim the police station is closed and the local Methodist church in Louise Street is being used temporarily as a client service centre while the station is being decontaminated.
