A 32-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly torturing a baby to death, burning her with boiling water in Kempton Park.

A 32-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly torturing a baby to death, burning her with boiling water in Kempton Park.

The recent arrest came after an intensive investigation by the Kempton Park detectives who discovered that the one-year-old baby girl who was certified dead on October 5 at Thembisa Hospital had severe burn wounds and is believed to have been tortured by the suspect.

The suspect will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on charges of child abuse.

Kempton Park acting station commander Percy Selematsela applauded the detectives for their response to the case which resulted in the arrest.

“As we are approaching 16 Days of Activism Against Women and Child Abuse, we as Kempton Park SAPS will work hand-in-hand with the community to prevent such incidents.

“We also encourage parents or whoever that is taking care of minors to strictly monitor them at all times,” said Selematsela.
