A woman has died in a vehicle collision and a subsequent fire at the intersection of the R547 and R580, known as 50/50 Crossing, south of Kriel in Mpumalanga last night.

The light motor vehicle the woman was driving collided with a truck and then caught fire.

ER24 paramedics were on the scene at 19:46 along with the Secunda Fire Department. The light motor vehicle was found ablaze in the road and was extinguished by the Fire Department.

“Unfortunately the woman, who was entrapped in the burning car, had already succumbed to her injuries. She was declared dead on arrival by ER24. The truck driver was uninjured in the incident,” ER24 said in a press statement.

The Traffic Department as well as the police were on the scene for further investigations.
