Woman in court for stabbing boyfriend to death
A 29-year-old woman accused of stabbing and killing her boyfriend is expected to appear again in the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court in Durban tomorrow.
According to Pinetown police spokesperson Constable Phindile Radebe, police responded to a report of murder in Nazareth, Pinetown on Human Rights Day, Highway Mail reported.
“They found a group of people and the body of a 26-year-old man outside a house in Mkhize Road. The deceased had one stab wound to his chest and was declared dead at the scene,” Radebe said.
The couple had allegedly had an argument inside a bedroom before the man was stabbed in the chest with a knife. The woman was then arrested and charged. She appeared in the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court on Monday, where she was remanded into custody until Thursday’s appearance.
Last week, Sindisiwe Manqele, girlfriend of slain rapper, Nkululeko “Flabba” Habedi, was granted R10 000 bail by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.
Manqele is accused of stabbing and killing Habedi at his mother’s house in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg on March 9, allegedly after an argument. She claimed she had killed Habedi in self-defence.
During her bail hearing, Manqele told the court she was confident she would get bail “as there are no eyewitnesses in this matter” and added there was no proof she would disturb public order.
