Woman in Potchefstroom court after quarrel with girl (15)

Police say a 38-year-old woman forcefully shoved a bottle on the young girl's private parts.

A 38-year-old woman is expected to make her first appearance in the Potchefstroom Magistrate’s Court today after she was arrested for rape on Sunday.

Local police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Funani says she was arrested in Oudedorp by the Potchefstroom Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FSC) Unit.

“The suspect was arrested after she forcefully shoved a bottle on a 15-year-old girl’s private parts. It is alleged that the suspect and the victim had a quarrel about alcohol and a fight ensued. Subsequent to the incident, the victim was badly injured and admitted at a local hospital,” Funani explains.

North West police commissioner Lieutenant General Sello Kwena is shocked by the incident and instructed the FCS to oppose bail and ensure that justice is served.
