Woman killed during Knysna storm

A motorist died after a tree fell onto her vehicle during the severe weather in the Western Cape. 

A 37-year-old woman died when a large tree crashed onto her vehicle in Knysna today (May 6) amid severe weather, reports Graff-Reinet Advertiser.

The incident occurred at the corner of Main Road (N2) and Queen Street, near the Knysna Police Station.

An inquest docket was opened.

According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Warrant Officer Chris Spies, emergency services were dispatched to the scene at about 07:50.

Spies also dismissed rumours circulating on social media that there had been a baby in the vehicle, confirming that no other occupants were found.
