Woman shot in Randfontein after auction visit

Shots were fired at her car as she came to a crossing, forcing it to a halt whereafter robbers approached her.

A woman returning from an auction was shot and robbed of her belongings in Elandsvlei, Randfontein yesterday.

Randfontein Police confirmed they are investigating a case of armed robbery and attempted murder after the incident that happened at the Tarlton and Ventersdorp roads crossing at about 17:00.

Randfontein Police spokesperson Sergeant Carmen Hendricks says it is alleged that the woman was shot at as she got to the crossing.

“This is when her vehicle came to a stop and suspects approached her. They took her handbag, a laptop and then fled the scene,” says Hendricks.

She says the victim sustained injuries and was rushed to hospital for urgent medical attention.
