Woman stabbed to death in KZN: Partner confesses online before suicide

Umzinto has been shaken by a murder-suicide after a woman was killed by her partner who confessed online before taking his own life.

The South Coast community has been left shaken after news broke early this morning about the brutal murder of a 25-year-old woman in the Umzinto area.

South Coast Herald reports her partner confessed to the murder via social media last night, and an image of her lifeless body went viral.

This morning, KZN police confirmed the murder and revealed that the man has since killed himself.

Police released a statement on the incident, stating they first responded to the murder scene and found the woman’s body lying in the middle of a gravel road.

“Her bloodied body was found with several stab wounds, and a broken knife was found next to her,” said KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda.

Reports indicate the suspect fetched the woman, who was his girlfriend, from her home, and it is suspected they had a domestic-related altercation which escalated to the murder.

“The suspect’s vehicle was found abandoned down the road from where the body was found, and blood on the front passenger seat suggested that the suspect killed the woman inside his vehicle,” added Netshiunda.

Police immediately launched a manhunt, which led them to the discovery of the suspect’s body.

Police are investigating a case of murder, and an inquest docket will also be opened for further investigation.
