Customers have accused yet another Spar of selling rotten food.

Daleen Swanepoel said she was eating the biltong when she discovered there were worms in the meat.
“I felt like throwing up when I saw the worms. I was very angry because I also gave it to my [four-year-old] grandson,” she said.
Swanepoel said she then went back to the Spar, where the manager allegedly offered to replace the biltong, but she refused.
Meanwhile, another customer claimed she had bought a macaroni dish from the same store.
“When my daughter was about to eat, she noticed the dish was sticky. When I checked it, the macaroni was off. We did not bother to go back to the store, so we just threw it away,” the woman said.
Louis Jardien, owner of the Spar, confirmed the incident and added the store conducted hygiene checks every quarter to prevent such incidents.
“The food could have been off due to heat contamination. We make our macaroni with fresh cream, and sometimes heat could be the problem,” he said.
Jardien also apologised to the customers.
In another incident, a disgruntled customer sent a complaint to the Spar head office after she allegedly bought a packet of expired pastrami from the Midstream Estate Superspar near Centurion.
