The community of kwaNyamazane in Dukuduku near Mtubatuba, north of Richards Bay, is angered by the gruesome murder of a 19-year-old mother, allegedly at the hands of her boyfriend (23).

He is believed to be the father of her two children.

Reports indicate that the woman was murdered with a hammer and spear, both of which were found next to her blood-soaked body, which was discovered inside the suspect’s living quarters.

Local media reports indicate that the suspect called the victim to his home to fetch goods he had bought for their children.

The couple was expected in court on Thursday to resolve a previous dispute, which allegedly resulted in the suspect obtaining a protection order against the mother of his children.

On the day of the murder, it is believed the suspect visited his parents’ home, where he reportedly instructed his niece that, should the electricity go off, she should check the main switch in his outside room.

Upon doing so, the young woman noticed blood flowing beneath the door before making the grisly discovery.

According to the police, the murder was reported last Thursday, and the suspect is on the run.

KZN police spokesperson Captain Sbusiso Mkhize says the SAPS urges the local community not to take the law into their own hands should the suspect be spotted but rather assist the police by bringing him to book.
