Jacob Zuma will know next week whether his bid to privately prosecute senior National Prosecuting Authority prosecutor Advocate Billy Downer will be put on ice – paving the way for the resumption of the arms deal trial where the former president is facing corruption and fraud charges.

This after the Pietermaritzburg High Court yesterday reserved judgment on Downer’s application for the private prosecution case that Zuma is pursuing against him to be struck off the roll.

The private prosecution case against Downer, who Zuma accused of leaking his medical records, has been on the court’s roll despite the former president having been interdicted from taking any steps to prosecute him.
