Here is what’s on the cards for Mazda in SA for the near future
CAR Magazine learns what models can be expected in the years to come, and which ones face an unfamiliar future.
After speaking with Craig Roberts, the managing director of Mazda Southern Africa, CAR Magazine got a good understanding of what the Japanese automaker will be doing in Mzansi in the near future.
The publication learnt that Mazda Southern Africa will be bringing the CX-60 PHEV in Q2 of 2024, a few months after the CX-80 is set to arrive on local shores as a flagship. Slightly further down the line, the new Mazda CX-5 will commence production in 2025 and should be in South Africa in early 2026.

Serving as the gateway into the brand, the Mazda2 and CX-3 will continue until at least 2026. Their slightly larger hatchback in the Mazda3 is a ‘seventh generation product’ so its lifecycle is beyond 2026. Their solitary bakkie, the BT-50, bears an uncertain future, with the head honcho yet to make a decision on whether to pull it from the local market or extend the range with a high-end model.
