Suzuki Auto South Africa has achieved a remarkable feat, breaking its all-time local sales record in October 2024.
The impressive figure of 6 006 new passenger vehicles sold surpasses the previous record of over 5 000 set in January. This achievement positions Suzuki as the third-highest seller of new vehicles in South Africa by manufacturer.
Record-breaking sales attributed to strong product line-up
“This is a phenomenal accomplishment,” said Henno Havenga, the general manager of sales and marketing at Suzuki Auto South Africa. “Breaking the 6 000-unit barrier is a testament to the quality, performance and value offered by our vehicles. It also highlights the dedication of our dealer network and the excellent service they provide.”

Leading the charge: The new Swift and Fronx
Spearheading the sales surge was the iconic Suzuki Swift, with 1 179 units sold. The all-new fourth-generation model, contributing 985 units, boasts Suzuki’s advanced Z12E 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, achieving a remarkable combined fuel consumption of 4.4l/100km. It also sets the standard for safety with features like six airbags, an electronic stability programme, ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, a brake assist system and ISOFIX anchor points.
Launched in late 2023, the Suzuki Fronx also performed exceptionally well, finding 1 109 new homes in October. This stylish crossover SUV delivers a powerful 1.5-litre engine, along with signature Suzuki design aesthetics and cutting-edge technology.
Baleno continues to impress
The popular Suzuki Baleno added to the success story with 672 units sold. This B-segment hatchback packs a punch with LED projector headlamps, a 360° view camera, a head-up display and a user-friendly nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Offering spacious seating for five and a generous 314L boot expandable to 646L, the Baleno remains a compelling choice.
Award recognition for Fronx, Swift and Baleno
Adding to the celebration, the Suzuki Fronx, Swift and Baleno are all finalists in the prestigious Cars.co.za Consumer Awards. This renowned programme acknowledges the best new car options across 13 segments in the South African market.

Continued sales growth expected
“We’re thrilled with our sustained sales growth, especially in these challenging economic times,” said Havenga. “This record-breaking October is an exciting start to the final quarter, and we anticipate the fourth-generation Swift to further amplify our sales momentum. We have high hopes for this exciting addition to the Suzuki family, building on the success of its predecessor.”
