So, what does the Super Snake conversion kit include? Well, for starters, the 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 employed by the standard seventh-generation Mustang GT has been equipped with a supercharger. The result? A power output eclipsing the new Mustang GT’s 328kW by 291kW. Indeed, the Shelby Super Snake will produce a whopping 619kW, which, the local arm of the Blue Oval brand says, will provide ‘supercar-like’ performance.

However, that isn’t the only upgrade made to the stock-standard Mustang GT it is based on. The suspension setup has been tuned to provide ‘sharper’ handling; the exhaust system has been revised for ‘improved’ airflow; and the brakes and cooling systems have been updated to ‘maximise’ the powertrain’s capabilities. The car further features new wheels and a rear spoiler. Stepping inside, the Super Snake-upgraded Mustang features a variety of Shelby-specific enhancements, including ‘Super Snake’ door sill plates, ‘Cobra’ puddle lamps and, to remind owners that their car is a ‘unique’ build, a serialised dash plaque.
Shelby Super Snake price
Currently, only three Super Snake conversion kits (as part of the initial batch) are headed to South Africa. The price of each conversion includes that of the donor Mustang GT, which, as a reminder, is priced from R1 300 000. Once the components arrive, the conversion will be carried out by Shelby’s official mod shop in Malmesbury, Western Cape for final assembly. It is worth noting, however, that, depending on the exchange rate, the price listed below may be subject to change.
