Toyota dominates November sales

Toyota has secured its best sales month of 2024, shifting 12 106 units and claiming a 24.9% market share.

Toyota has continued its strong performance in the South African market, recording its best sales month of 2024 in November. The automaker shifted 12 106 units, securing a 24.9% market share.

Leon Theron, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Toyota South Africa Motors, expressed his satisfaction with the results: “Breaching the 12 000 sales mark for the first time this year is a significant milestone and a positive indicator for the economy. We achieved first place in all major categories: passenger, light commercial vehicle and medium commercial vehicle.”

Key factors driving sales

• Recent interest rate cut: Stimulated consumer spending.

• Strong performance across segments: Particularly in the passenger vehicle segment, with models like the Corolla Cross, Starlet, Fortuner and Urban Cruiser leading the charge.

• Loyal customer base: Continued support from private customers, dealers and fleet owners.

Segment-wise performance

· Passenger vehicles:

• Corolla Cross: 2 655 units

• Starlet: 1 238 units

• Fortuner: 872 units

• Urban Cruiser: 870 units

• Starlet Cross: 710 units

• Vitz: 407 units

· Light commercial vehicles:

• Hilux: 2 702 units

• Hiace: 635 units

· Medium commercial vehicles:

• Hino 300: 122 units

• Coaster: 67 units

• Quantum: 50 units

Toyota’s aftermarket business also performed well, supplying 2 044 865 parts to domestic dealers and 312 798 parts to international markets.
