Dayun Yuehu S5: Affordable electric mini SUV coming to South Africa

Enviro Automotive is set to introduce the Dayun Yuehu S5, an affordable battery-electric mini SUV to the SA market later this year.

Enviro Automotive is preparing to introduce the Dayun Yuehe S5 into the South African market in July 2025.

The intention is to provide local and budget-conscious buyers with a practical eco-friendly urban mobility solution.

Affordable electric mobility

Priced from R399 900, the Yuehu S5 targets the growing demand for affordable electric vehicles. Designed for urban environments, it features a 35kW front-mounted motor, delivering 105Nm and a top speed of 115km/h.

“The Yuehu S5 is a game-changer for its efficiency and low commuting costs,” says Gideon Wolvaardt, the managing director of Enviro Automotive. “It surpasses small petrol and diesel city cars in terms of cost savings and performance.”

Safety and features

Despite its compact size, the Yuehu S5 prioritises safety with features like dual airbags, ABS, EBD, TCS and more. The VIP derivative adds ultrasonic radars, LED daytime running lights and front fog lamps.

The interior offers comfort and convenience with leather finishes, an adjustable steering wheel, keyless start, climate control and a seven-inch LCD infotainment screen.

Practical performance

Equipped with a 31.7kWh battery, the Yuehu S5 offers a 330km range, ideal for daily commutes. It supports AC and DC charging, with a fast charge option taking under an hour.

“The Yuehu S5 is a leader in urban travel with proven reliability and low energy consumption,” says Gawie Brink, Envrio Automative’s technical director and co-founder.

Model line-up and availability

The Dayun Yuehu S5 will be available in two derivatives: the S5 Standard (R399 900) and the S5 VIP (R449 900). Prices include a battery warranty, mechanical warranty, and service plan.
