“Premcar has taken it a step further by engineering perhaps the toughest and most durable Navara yet,” said Maciej Klenkiewicz, the managing director for Nissan South Africa and Independent Markets Africa.

Based on the Pro-4X double-cab derivative, the Navara Warrior employs Nissan’s 2.5-litre turbo diesel engine. Coupled with a seven-speed automatic transmission, the four-cylinder oil-burner churns out 140kW and 450Nm of torque, the latter of which available from 2 000r/min.

However, setting the Navara Warrior apart from the standard Pro-4X, the upcoming model features a variety of upgrades for improved off-road performance. The Warrior package includes uprated suspension, which comprises revised springs and recalibrated dampers, and 275/65 R17 MAXXIS RAZR all-terrain tyres. Thanks to these upgrades, ground clearance has increased by 11mm (to 232mm).

The Warrior further features a black front grille, door handles, roof rack, side steps and wheels. Red accents are also present. The latter hue has been carried over to contrast stitching of the Warrior’s model-specific pews.
