The JAC T9 Hunter limited edition double cab was such a success that JAC Motors South Africa has made it a permanent model, according to The Citizen.

“With all 24 T9 Hunters selling out instantly, we have decided to include the T9 Hunter as a permanent model in the line-up. The T9 Hunter will soon be offered in both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations, and in all eight colours across the range,” says JAC Motors South Africa CEO Karl-Heinz Göbel.

The T9 Hunter 4×4 adds more than R50 000 in accessories, including Artav nudge and style bars, a tow bar, tonneau cover, branded headrests and heavy-duty carpets. Priced at R689 900, it costs just R30 000 more than the T9 Super Lux 4×4, which retails for R659 900.

Its 2.0-litre intercooled turbocharged diesel engine delivers 144kW and 487Nm, supported by an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Since September 1, torque across all T9 Lux and Super Lux models has increased from 410Nm to 444Nm, improving drivability for towing and performance at no extra cost.

Fuel economy testing at Gerotek showed the T9 achieved 1 226km on a tank at 6.2L per 100km, while the T8 managed 1 246km at 6.1L per 100km. The original T9 Hunter was created to celebrate the T9’s record-breaking 24-hour endurance run of 4 084km at 170.1km/h.
