All-electric Jaecoo J5 SA launch date confirmed
Here’s what we know about a new South Africa-bound all-electric compact SUV that is rolling into our market soon.
Jaecoo has announced when the J5 EV will launch in South Africa.
In other markets, such as the UK and Australia, where the J5 EV is already available, the emissions-free compact SUV is powered by a single permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor producing 155kW and 288Nm of torque. According to the Chinese automaker, the J5 EV accelerates from 0-100km/h in 7.7s, before topping out at 174km/h.
Equipped with a 58.9kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery, the J5 EV serves up a claimed 402km (WLTP) operating range, and is capable of recharging from 30 to 80% in 28 minutes at a 130kW DC fast-charging facility. The package also features an 11kW onboard charger.
