Celebrating love with Miss Deaf SA

A fund-raising event was held in Centurion today to help raise funds to assist Miss Deaf SA to be able to go and represent South Africa at Miss Deaf World Pageant to be held in Czech Republic later this year.

A fund-raising event was held in Centurion today to help raise funds to assist Miss Deaf SA, Janie Erasmus, to be able to go and represent South Africa at Miss Deaf World Pageant to be held in Czech Republic later this year.

The event was held at Forever Centurion Hotel.

Spokesperson for Miss Deaf SA Foundation, Liviena Smit besides raising funds for the reigning Miss Deaf SA, Janie Erasmus, part of the event’s objective was to raise funds for cochlear implants.

“There’s too many people in South Africa with hearing loss and need hearing aids,” said Liviena.

She said the hearing aids will help ease the stress levels among people with hearing difficulties.

The hearing aids will be allocated to deserving people through the Pretoria Academic Hospital’s ear department.

According to Liviena, most of the people who attended the event knew someone who has a hearing problem, or were passionate about making a difference in the life of people with hearing problems.

During the event, Miss Deaf SA, donated the first cochlear processor to the Pretoria Academic Hospital and it was handed over to the hospital’s representative, Coleen Maritz.
