After reading the article “Fit as a Fiddle at 93” this week (Courier, February 3), I would like to thank Clara Risi for her incredible story that inspired me to want to remain fit and healthy for as long as possible.
As a young person, it is so important to take care of your body and aging at a slower rate would be just one benefit of it. Risi gave a few helpful tips as to how she managed to stay “Fit as a Fiddle” for the 93 years that she’s been around:
Despite her age, she says that she exercises regularly and wears no makeup. This I believe, together with a balanced diet, could be the key factors to a happier, healthier and possibly longer life.
Having a balanced diet, together with regular exercise is what maintains the skin’s elasticity. Moisturizing daily and drinking loads of water also gives the skin its natural ‘glow’, these key components are vital if you don’t plan on aging fast. But then again, it could be dependent on the genes of someone as well. As for makeup, I’m sure minimal amounts of it will not do much harm.
I urge all people to love and take care of their bodies, do not treat them like trash. Your body is the only place you have to live in.
