Ashton International College
Ashton – uniquely different
Ashton International College is celebrating its 10th anniversary and it has been remarkable to see the continued growth of this uniquely different college. It has been through determination and perseverance that we have lived up to the expectation that excellence belongs to the zealous.
The College has made remarkable strides on the academic, sport and cultural fronts and has delivered facilities that will see students thrive in all spheres of school life. This English medium, co-ed College upholds our Christian ethos and traditional values and of vital importance is the Grace Wing which is one of a kind – a specialised unit catering for children on the Autism Spectrum aged 3 – 9 years.
On the academic front, offering the IEB (Independent Examinations Board) and Cambridge Assessment International Examinations on IGCSE, AS and A Levels have been a tremendous success. The Junior College also write the external Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Examinations in Mathematics, English and Science in their Grade 6 year. Over the past three years, Ashton matric students have rocketed to the top 1% nationally achieving 80% and higher in six examinable subjects, in every single subject offered on the IEB curriculum. This year Consumer Studies and Dance on the IEB Curriculum was added to the wide range of subjects on offer.
Culture has grown from strength to strength. Five full productions have been staged in the Grace Hall showcasing the talent in music, dance and drama. Culture extends beyond just concerts – on campus qualified teachers are available for ballet, marimbas, voice training, piano, drums and guitar, to name but a few. To further enhance the Cultural Department a 140-seater theatre is nearing completion with a dance studio and additional music rooms.
Completing the sports facilities, the Legacy Hall Indoor Arena is another unique feature. Once again the arena complies to international standards and we look forward to hosting international matches in the future. This multi-purpose arena is also fitted with a 3-D LED screen, state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment and therefore will be used to stage concerts and other performances.
Sportsmen and Sportswomen have been successful regionally, nationally and internationally in every sporting code. This can be contributed to the FIH approved water-based Rhinoturf, five new tennis/netball courts, eight cricket nets with dedicated batting cages three rugby fields and a heated swimming pool.
The College continues to strive for success and remains a family orientated, value driven College where each child is celebrated and is able to develop to his or her own unique potential.
