iBeach rocks its new home

The ultimate beach party drew crowds from across the province.

Scores of party lovers from across the province gathered for a weekend of partying at the iBeach Xperience festival at the Dokodweni Lagoon and Thokoza Lounge in Mandeni this December.

The iBeach, which was previously held on the South Coast came to its new home in Ilembe this year and brought some fun to the quite village of Dokodweni from December 27 to 29.

The weekend kicked off with beach games which saw Sthebe’s Happy Boys taking home gold medals in a soccer final against Dokodweni’s Hhwebede.

The evenings were dedicated to house and kwaito music fans who were treated to the SABC Live Party on Friday with artist such as DJ Zinhle and Euphonik. Portions of the party were broadcast live on the SABC 1 Live Amp show.

Saturday night’s Dance Craze had a pumping line-up of deejays and musicians including Oskido and Mandeni born DJ Cyndo.

Sunday’s 18-hour party started around midday and carried on until dawn on Monday. Festival goers were entertained by Zakes Bantwini DJ Ganyani, DJ Tira, Donald, Heavy K, DJ Naves and DJ Sphectacula.

Sphectacula said the iBeach is one of the best festivals he had ever played and would happily come back this year if the organisers asked him to.

The festival included a wide range of outdoor activities for kids and adults such as speed boating and quad-biking.
