Shaving it off for cancer

CANSA Shavathons were well supported by the community.

People of all ages took part in the CANSA Shavathon this weekend – even toddler Rosy Widlake punked up her image with a pink mohawk at  Tiffany’s.

At both the Tiffany’s and Ballito Lifestyle centres locals poured in to show their support as razors buzzed and colourful spray filled the air.

“We are so pleased with the response,” said Ashleigh Naicker, the owner of Ashleigh D Hair Salon who hosted the Shavathon at Tiffany’s.

“We raised R8 865 for cancer and next year we hope to beat that.”

Ward 6 councillor Colin Marsh, with his head freshly shaved, said, “It is a great initiative that we can all get behind as a community and show our support.”

According to CANSA co-ordinater Anria du Toit, the Shavathon at Lifestyle centre raised just over R5000.

“It went down really well, there was a great turnout,” she said.
