Dolphins lost but the game did not disappoint
There were numerous scoring opportunities on both sides as the lead changed hands several times in the low scoring encounter.
The Great Rail Road Brewery Ballito Dolphins hosted the Hillcrest Villagers Rugby Club on the weekend. Hillcrest occupied the place above the Dolphins on the league points table so a close contest was expected.
The appetizer to the main game led to disappointment for home fans when the second team went down 52-0 to the visitors, who dominated all aspects of the play.
The Dolphins’ second team has a lot of work ahead of them but can take positives from the second half when they stemmed the tide somewhat to only concede 12 points (half time score 40-0).
Sporting their new kit for the first time at home, the Dolphins’ first team were keen to chalk up another victory to keep up momentum in their season.
The game didn’t disappoint and was a real battle of attrition with neither team able to gain the upper hand.
There were numerous scoring opportunities on both sides as the lead changed hands several times in the low scoring encounter. In the end, handling errors and some ill-discipline (a yellow card for a tip tackle by Muzi Luthuli) cost the Dolphins the game in which they were widely regarded as the better team – the final score 10-13 to the visitors.
Moses Mpande was rewarded for his consistency, getting the vote for forwards man of the match while Siya received his second man of the match award at home games.
