Panting KwaDukuza with African colours
Chief Albert Luthuli Street was brought to a standstill with the colourful parade to the grounds.
South Africans need to be proud of being Africans and know that they are no different from other African people.
This was the message given by KZN MEC for arts, culture, sport and recreation, Ntombikayise Sibhidla Saphetha, at the African Day celebration held at the recreation grounds in KwaDukuza on Wednesday, May 25.
“We need to decolonise our minds. Apartheid taught us that we are not part of Africa. That needs to get out of our minds. We are Africans and we must be proud of it,” said Saphetha.
Chief Albert Luthuli Street was brought to a standstill with the colourful parade to the grounds. Hundreds of people kitted out in African attire took part in the vibrant affair.
“As an African, I will always respect other African people. It is my duty to stand against any form of abuse to African people,” said Thokozani Mbatha from Maphumulo.
