Sup action in beautiful Zinkwazi

This had to be one of the most grueling sanctioned, flat water races on the South African national Stand Up Paddling Circuit.

The perfect weather and chilled Zinkwazi beach offered host to the country’s biggest annual Starboard 10km race on Sunday, June 19.

The sunny winter’s morning brought together 55 contestants, with South Africa’s strongest paddlers attending the race.

This had to be one of the most grueling sanctioned, flat water races on the South African national Stand Up Paddling Circuit.

Competing until the end in the male division, the race saw Dylan Frick claiming a hard earned victory with a winning time of 59 minutes and 20 seconds, Chris Couve finishing was a close second with a time of 59 minutes and 22 seconds. Rory Smyth was not far behind, coming in third place at 59:38.

The woman who started a minute after the men, put in a great effort battling against the wind. Lande Williams finished first with a winning time of one hour and nine minutes, Jacky de Billot came in second at 60:09:03 with Charlotte Atherton at her heels with a time of 60:09:04.
