Ballito Pro Junior Series expression session
The expression session is where surfers get to go all out without fear of dropping points - leading to some awesome aerial displays
Yesterday (Thursday) was the final day of the Junior Series in the 2017 Billabong Ballito Pro.
Throughout the day young surfers were competing in their different age categories – from U18 all the way down to U12 (which even included a ten-year-old competitor!). Brazil’s Samuel Pupo and Hawaii’s Zoe McDougall were crowned the champions.
However, once all the age categories had taken place it was time for the awesome ‘expression session’ where the contestants of all ages took to the water to show off some of their more aggressive, expressive moves (hence the session’s nickname, ‘the airshow’.)
While some amazing aerial moves were on show and all the surfers gave it their best shot, Salt Rock’s own Calvin Goor took the R2000 prize for the best session at the end of the day.
