Ballito’s newest ENT surgeon, Dr Tanusha Nandkishore, brings passion and experience to Alberlito post
Dr Nandkishore offers a wide variety of treatments and surgeries, including tonsillectomies, adenoidectomies and myringotomies for the installation of grommets.
Dr Tanusha Nandkishore, Alberlito’s new ENT specialist, brings expert care to Ballito with a passion for ear, nose, and throat health.
A qualified otorhinolaryngologist since completing her specialty in 2021, Dr Nandkishore has been with Alberlito for just over a month and is loving life on the North Coast.
She is originally from Durban and completed both her undergraduate and specialist studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine. Dr Nandkishore also completed a subspecialty in rhinology and anterior skull based pathology at the University of Pretoria last year.
“I first became interested in ENT as a specialty during my undergrad. It’s such a small area of focus in the context of the whole body, but it is so complex and there is so much to learn,” she said.
“My research topic was focused on acute sinusitis in children and I furthered my interest during my community service year, when I chose Kimberley Hospital specifically because they offered ENT training.”
Dr Nandkishore worked at hospitals across Durban during her specialty posting and brings a wealth of knowledge to her adopted community of Ballito. She moved to the North Coast with her husband, also a doctor, a year ago and is enjoying the access to an active beach lifestyle. The same weather conditions that make Ballito beachgoing a dream, however, also contribute to some of Dr Nandkishore’s most common treatments.
“Ear infections are typical in areas with hot and humid weather. That is one of my more regular treatments, along with tonsilitis and sinusitis.”
