Flea market fun for Westbrook retirees

The residents are raising money for new carports.

The Westbrook Retirement Village market was buzzing as residents dug into delicious treats, and shopped for fresh vegetables and clothes on Saturday.

Chairperson of the committee, Rosa van der Merwe, said the market was part of their fundraising initiative.

“We need about 28 carports and we currently have about 15 that are falling apart. We need new ones so that residents can protect their cars,” said Van der Merwe.

She said they were happy with the turnout and hoped that more people would come to support them at the next one.
