Cape Town top of the list as post-lockdown travel destination
Once government lifts the national lockdown to Level 1, travel will no doubt be on top of people’s lists to utilise the new freedom of movement.
Cape Town and surrounds is the place to be.
The Victoria and Alfred (V&A) Waterfront in Cape Town tops the list with roughly 25 million visitors per year, making it the most visited tourist attraction in South Africa.
But Cape Town offers much more – Table Mountain, an operational harbour, top notch shopping and top rated restaurants, as well as some of the oldest heritage sites.
Tourists can also visit the Watershed and Two Oceans Aquarium while there, followed by the Robben Island museum.

Catch a bus or train to Kirstenbosch to explore the magical national botanical gardens.
A visit to Groot Constantia should also be a must do. The country’s oldest wine estate not only has a historic manor house museum, but has recently opened a visitor walking which includes a visit to the Cloete cellar and wine tasting.
Cape Point’s soaring stone cliffs may not be the true most southern tip of Africa, but a visit to the national park is hugely rewarding.
