Recovered body identified, Hillcrest missing man confirmed dead
The 28-year-old went missing on January 2.

After a week of search, prayers and hope, the Koen family learnt with heartache Monday morning that the body recovered at the base of a cliff in Winston Park is that of the 28-year-old Jamie-Lee Koen.
Jamie went missing on Sunday, January 2. It was reported that he was last seen at the Jan Smuts View Site at about 11:00.

Since his disappearance, volunteers, search and rescue teams and other groups conducted an extensive search until a partially decomposed body was discovered on Saturday at about noon.
The family’s spokesperson, Deborah Snyman expressed her deepest condolences to Jamie’s parents, Robert and Theresa, his family and friends.

“Jamie was an incredible young man who was loved by his many friends and his family. We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss. This is a very difficult time for his family and have asked for privacy,” she said.
She once again thanked those who have supported the family and helped to search for Jamie.
The Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Captain Linzi Smith, said an inquest docket has been opened at the station.
