Curro Castle Mount Richmore launches new class for overcoming learning hurdles

When a child's learning hurdles are not corrected at an early age it can make the transition to 'big school' much harder, and take away from the joy that learning should bring.

When a child’s learning hurdles are not corrected at an early age it can make the transition to ‘big school’ much harder, and take away from the joy that learning should bring.

It is with this in mind that Curro Castle Mount Richmore brings you their Galaxy Stars Class, providing a safe, small environment with a teacher who is passionate and equipped to adapt her teaching for each child’s individual needs.

Galaxy Stars Class will cater for children from 3 to 5 years and will open in term 4 of 2020.

“This is an opportunity to embrace ‘bumps in the road’ early to allow development and progress to ensure success in Grade R and 1,” said Head of Phase at Curro Castle, Jackie Clark.

The school has identified that more and more little ones are presenting with speech and language challenges, something which Mrs Clark believes will be best addressed with a class where your child’s specific needs are carefully and progressively developed.

More often than not, there are no teachers or schools equipped with the knowledge to adequately help these children, and in so doing, equip them with the skills and confidence they need to cope and succeed.

“In conjunction with therapists and patient and passionate specialist teachers, these little people will grow and develop as they should,” said Mrs Clark.

Set to open on September 28, the Galaxy Stars Class will feature a classroom for learning, play, and discovery, and a second classroom for therapies and, heading the class will be teacher Chantelle Smith.

“Our Curro Mount Richmore family is going to be blossoming with learners who will have overcome some of the learning hurdles before they reach ‘big school’. This will help to build their self-esteem, confidence, and their handle on learning at school. We are so proud to be one of the first preschools to offer this learner support class to our community,” said Mrs Smith.

The goal is to allow children to grow at their own pace in a safe space.

Even though your child may have presented with speech and language, focus, or anxiety issues, Mrs Clark reminds parents that this is not the end of the road and that they are here to help.
