The Miss Ballito finalists took their first steps towards the crown when they were officially introduced to the community on Friday night.

The annual Miss Ballito cocktail evening was held at the Pumpkin Theatre at La Montagne, bringing together finalists, former titleholders, sponsors and supporters.

Presented by the Rotary Club of Zimbali, the event gives finalists an opportunity to introduce themselves while recognising the sponsors who support the pageant.

Among the guests were current Miss Ballito and Rotaract president Yuvika Govender, Miss Ballito Teen Zara Ramautar, Miss Ballito 2021 Cikizwa Vilakazi and former Rotary Club of Zimbali president Kosh Thaver.

Miss Ballito co-ordinator Heidie Smith said the evening was an important milestone in the finalists’ journey.

“The cocktail evening is always a special occasion because it gives our finalists the opportunity to step forward, introduce themselves and enjoy the support of the community,” said Smith.

Food also took centre stage during a local restaurant platter competition, with guests sampling dishes before voting for their favourites.

Mozambik Ballito took first place and received a R3 000 Jonsson Workwear Ballito voucher.

Fika Community Restaurant and Bar finished second, while La Montagne took third place. Both received R1 000 vouchers.

The judging panel comprised Rotary Club of Zimbali president Julie Cloete, Andile Pieterson, Bev Mileham, Dinesh Patel and Shan Fourie.

“The support we receive from our community and sponsors plays a huge role in making the Miss Ballito journey possible. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who continues to stand behind these young women,” said Smith.
