Durban Girls’ College claims top marks for matrics

Samira Salduker was awarded the title of IEB Outstanding Achiever.

Given the year girls at Durban Girls’ College had, the school’s executive head Marianna Bailey said it was worth noting that many achieved the best results ever.

 

Boasting a 100% National Senior Certificate pass rate, a 98% bachelor degree pass rate and whopping total of 338 As and Bs, Durban Girls’ College said it proved that resilience and determination to succeed bore fruit, even in the face of Covid-19.

Astoundingly, the school is able to brag of the prestigious achievement of having one matriculant who was awarded with the title of IEB Outstanding Achiever.

Samira Salduker was awarded with 7 distinctions and the prestigious title.

Gemme Erskine boasts with a total of 8 distinctions.

Jena Woodroffe received the title of IEB Commendable Achiever, while boasting 9 distinctions which includes both Advanced Programme English and Mathematics, followed by 2 more IEB Commendable achievers, Gemma Erskine (8 distinctions) and Holly Munks (6 distinctions).

Of the 57 girls at the college, 20 placed within the top 1% nationally for individual subjects.

Jena Woodroffe received the title of IEB Commendable Achiever.

Being an IEB Commendable Achiever equates to an achievement of being in the top 5% in 5 or more subjects as well as scoring 80% or more for Life Orientation.

“This achievement is worthy of praise and proves their determination to succeed, even in adversity. Our every good wish accompanies these girls as they now head off to follow their dreams,” said executive head Marianne Bailey.

Durban Girls’ College enters its 143rd year of excellence.
